Youth Hostel Profiles:
Historic counties of Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
These completed files are of hostels grouped into the historic counties of Staffordshire (for example Ilam Hall hostel) and Derbyshire (Hartington Hall). The term ‘Peak District’ is used loosely to include the two counties that formed the bulk of hostels in this hill region. Staffordshire is included here, even though in modern terms it is in the West Midlands.
These profiles were represented regionally by YHA’s North Midlands and Manchester regions up to 1965, and Peak region 1965-86, though a few hostels in South Staffordshire migrated to Midland region then.
