This collection of profiles for English youth hostels is based on historic counties. It is divided into:

North East (Northumberland and Durham)
Yorkshire (North and East Ridings; West Riding)
North West 1 (Cumberland, Westmorland, Furness Division of Lancashire)
North West 2 (Southern Division of Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man)

It coincides fairly closely with the modern English political regions of:

North East
Yorkshire and the Humber
North West
